BUMP OF CHICKEN MEMBER FACTSHEET - FUJIWARA MOTOO
He played the piano from a young age, and, even then, he was trying to compose his own music. When he was in middle school, he was always singing even without realizing it; it that way, he's deeply linked with music.
Pushed by drummed Masu Hideo, he became the co-president of his school's cultural fair, where he and the others first performed as Bump of Chicken (they did a cover of the Beatles' "Twist and Shout") and hit it big there
After graduating from middle school, he continued to try and compose things by himself as he entered high school. However, he couldn't fit in at the school he enrolled in, and ended up dropping out in the middle of fall semester of his sophomore year. As a result, it became his job to earn part of the rent, 50,000 yen (roughly $500) a month, and worked various part time jobs at stores or tea houses (sometimes even bars). However, he felt that, rather than try to earn rent like this, it would be better to just rent a cheap apartment, so he ended up living alone then, at age 16.
Around this time, he composed "Garasu no Blues," the group's first real song. At this time, he was living in a small, one-room apartment by himself; however, at times, he couldn't afford the rent, and sometimes slept out in the part, or played in the streets, experiencing the various aspects of frugal life. Sometime between when he wrote "Garasu no Blues" and when "Flame Vein" was released, he also worked shortly at writing scores for a musical (it was entitled "The Running Girl," and he played as part of the band for it)
Blood type O
He likes doing the laundry.
Doesn't like crowds.
Likes the indoors; doesn't like going out, especially in the summer.
He's fairly good at drawing, and did the covers for "THE LIVING DEAD" and "Yggdrasil"
He admits that he has really bad handwriting
When he was in elementary school, he often had opinions that strongly clashed with others, and often got into trouble with the teachers; he also ended making some of the girls in his class becuase of arguements
On the other hand, in middle school, he tried to fit in with others, and agreed with most people, not saying much about his own opinions; however, once school ended, he voiced his own opinions
His eyesight is 0.05 in each eye, but, except for when he's playing games or watching TV, he won't wear his glasses. He bought his glasses becuase people said that it would be better for him, but once he put them on and walked around town, he felt oppressed, and took them off after a few moments. Also, he doesn't wear contact lenses. He says "seeing things too clearly is a little scary." It seems he's a little shy of wearing them, but in one magazine photoshoot, he was seem with his glasses in his shirt pocket, and, on one website, there was footage of his watching TV with his glasses on.
There's a rumor circulating that he's missing his upper front teeth, but it's false.
Like back in the group's indy days, he keeps a few of Fender's medium white teardrop-shaped picks as extras, but it seems he'd like to have a few more of them on hand.
He likes pudding, Karikarikun ice cream, strawberry sandwhiches and other sweet things, but can't eat spicy foods very well. However, he says he doesn't have any food he dislikes in particular.
He likes all of the animals in the cat family, especially housecats and lions. He used to have a pet cat called "Black Sugar," which was the cat on the cover of the LAMP single. He also likes large whales and the planet Jupiter, both of which he'd like to see in real life some time. In addition, if he could take on thing to Jupiter, he'd like to take up a 'peeled chestnut'
Having asked for a star chart for his birthday, he seems to really like outer space, further supported by his fondness for Jupiter.
He won't feel satisfied about an interview unless he's said at least one maxim.
Ever since his father told him "you have a scary way of looking at people" when he was younger, he's had a bit of a complex. Especially since some people told him, "you look like you're glaring at people even if you're just looking at them." This is why he grew long bangs.
